Eastern Energy Expo

May 21, 2023 - May 24, 2023

NORA will participate at the Eastern Energy Expo with a series of seminars, a life-fire demonstration of biofuels and Board of Directors meeting.

NORA programs on the Eastern Eastern Expo schedule:

  • National Building Codes Recognize Renewable Liquid Fuels
    Tuesday, May 23, 8:15 am
: NORA President, Michael Devine & NORA Education Director Robert O’Brien will provide an update on how to profit from the great work that NORA has done with the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) to include Renewable Liquid Fuels as credit-generating technologies within building codes. Additionally, NORA will share its new Building & Performance Institutes (BPI) certification programs that will allow industry professionals the opportunity to provide home and business energy audits. These could save property owners thousands of dollars through the Homes Provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act.NORA will also provide updates on the latest IRA new equipment rebate program, which can also be leveraged with the NORA rebate program.
  • NFPA 31 Updates
Tuesday, May 23, 9:15am: This session will explain the recent changes to the Standard for the Installation of Oil Burning Equipment (NFPA 31), including the 2016 and 2020 versions as well as the upcoming 2024 revisions. Many technicians and their employers are unaware of these changes and install equipment in violation of code.
NORA certified technicians earn CEU’s for attending this class.
  • Technical Innovations to Make the Transition to Low-Carbon Fuels Seamless and Effective
Tuesday, May 23, 9:45am:Two goals of NORA’s research program are ensuring there are no technical barriers to replacing petroleum with renewable biofuels while also demonstrating how liquid renewable fuels can rapidly contribute to clean, low-carbon heating. In this series of short talks, new research on the impact of liquid fuels on indoor air quality, field studies with high blends, managing cold flow issues, tests with renewable diesel, and an update on the Zero Carbon Home concept will be covered.
  • Featured Session: The Industry’s Response to Carbon Reduction
Wednesday, May24, 8:30am: As the reduction of carbon emissions from the heating sector becomes an environmental and public policy reality, the liquid fuel heating industry is positioned to provide the effective, practical and cost- effective solution.
With decades of research and field data supporting the move to renewable low carbon liquid fuels, marketers and homeowners can depend on safe, reliable and clean heating system operation, even as the biodiesel blends increase to meet carbon reduction deadlines. In the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act 2022, the US Congress has included low carbon liquid fuel appliances in its masterplan to reduce carbon production.
Not only stopping at reducing carbon, Net-Zero Carbon homes are possible with the inclusion of solar panels partnered with biodiesel heating.
This session will open the doors to the research, field work, personal experiences and future technologies and show you why becoming a Low Carbon Fuel Marketer is well within your grasp.
      • The latest heating systems rated to burn 100% low carbon liquid fuels
      • First-hand experiences from marketers delivering Bioheat® fuel
      • Technical innovations to make the transition seamless and effective
      • Analysis of how biodiesel can actually affect carbon reduction
      • A look at liquid fuel on-site combustion’s low-impact on indoor air quality
